the days are longer and lighter already and that can only mean one thing. summer is on its way… lee burridge and lost desert return with sunshine days in mind on their ‘loopyness’ ep. an apt description indeed for the title track. its infectious groove rolls forward, making you want to get up and wiggle your hips, this track has funk. a live guitar lifts the track halfway through, as stuttered vocals and string-like synth lines take you away to other worlds. over on the other side of the vinyl (or track two for digital fans) is ‘botanic’. another summer daze, groovy, light and airy with a slinky fat bassline and a warm breakdown. music to close your eyes and drift away to, this track has been a firm favourite on all day i dream dance floors since last summer. the ep comes to a close with ‘12cc’ featuring junior. a dubbier groove underpins the whole affair while glass-like melodies and laid back synths sway back and forth. it’s a patient groover that rewards those who take the ride.

as we welcome another talented artist to our family we asked viken about the first part of a two part release and he told us it s really important to understand that this ep is a series of pictures telling a story. combining the names of all the tracks one gets this interesting and dreamy sentence, on a blue road a white shadow feels the winter. to translate these pictures into music, i needed a very particular sound. since i am a huge fan of jazz music i took one of my favorite records, used a lot of samples and reworked them in my own way. from the technical aspect, i decided to reconnect with my first love: analog machines. i love working with sound textures. i stayed away from my laptop and all my vst/plugins as i felt the need to compose these tracks in an unusual way: i wanted the sound to be really pure. that s the reason why this process was so essential for me. for me, this ep is the first one to sound like this. this is the first of two releases from a deeply talented soul. a patient collage of house, jazz, acid squiggles and deep emotion. played and loved all summer long by lee burridge at all day i dream, these tracks will stay with you through winter and into next summer.

the first release from naissance musik (nm) is a 12” vinyl from the super-group dream scoring (hear and hakim murphy) entitled images of a myth. it is comprised of 4 tracks. a myth is a legendary story that a community validates to explain part of its reality. however any member or group within the community can have his or her own version of the myth, and the myth can also evolve through time. we may all listen to the same track but this track still calls up intimate images for each and every one of us. a myth is full of adventure and mystery, it is epic and full of emotions. it can be anything from the lost ark to greek gods fighting. the aim is to fill our bodies and minds with emotions. the main idea is to tell stories like books or movies, but through musical notes & rhythm. the music makers provide the musical image, the listeners create the myth. and vice-versa.

for over five years, all day i dream has been where deep and emotive meet house music. propelled by a community of forward thinking artists drawn around the scion of master curator and sunset/sunrise set specialist, lee burridge. all day i dream formally welcomes lost desert to the label with the release of lingala, a two-track collaborative effort with burridge himself, that also features junior on vocals. lost desert was picked out of obscurity after burridge discovered his music while trekking in a remote area of a long lost land. a fast forged friendship inevitably lead to the studio, and lingala’s the enrapturing sophomore result. the duo’s first project together debuted on lee’s night time imprint, get weird, earlier this year to widespread support. lingala, is a beautifully composed ten-minute sonic journey. built around a mystical lead vocal sung by newcomer junior in his native linagles the raw emotion slowly builds in intensity over propulsive basslines and deep melodic grooves . gorje hewek & izhevski’s interpretation of lingala is a markedly different affair. focussing on musical layers rather than the vocal the duo’s signature spacey atmospheres and minimal rhythmic percussion add extra strings creating uplifting moments that contrast the original’s mood.
